Grand Theft Auto V is one of the fastest selling video games of all time, and its players are constantly on the lookout for new content. Rockstar itself has announced that new content is incoming, and that has begun to fuel the rumor mills. The latest guess? A DLC expansion focusing on casino heists.

A new large-scale casino heist is coming to Grand Theft Auto Online in GTA 5 next week. The Diamond Casino Heist will be available on December 12, and Rockstar promises it's the biggest and most.

The internet is certainly ready for an expansion, and its willingness to seize upon rumors is already well established. After all, the remarkably well-done North Yanktown DLC hoax is fairly fresh in the minds of most in the online community, but this has done relatively little to dissuade the masses that something big is coming.

Of course, Rockstar itself has teased an upcoming “new” story mode, and the pieces do seem to be in place for something big. In fact, it is the very fact that so many of the mechanics and properties are already Los Santos that really lends a deal of credence to the Heist rumors.

Heists are a well-received part of GTA V, a mission in which the player meticulously plans out a heist on a major target, putting into place all of the necessary arrangements and hiring a crew. Evidence has been posted online that there is certainly a good deal of infrastructure available for more heists in the game – notably in the game’s few (currently inaccessible) casinos.

Given Rockstar’s reputation for making everything in a game space count, it does seem very likely that Casino Heists could be a part – or even a focal point – for the major story DLC.

The real story about the Casino Heists is still yet to come, of course, though many assume that November 19th’s update (which coincides with the game’s Beach Bum DLC) will lay the groundwork for the future story-based expansion.

Given the hype surrounding heists in the lead-up to the game as well as the praise for the main game’s few heist missions, it does seem incredibly likely that Rockstar will capitalize on the concept sooner rather than later. As always, the question with Rockstar seems to be not if they will find a way to expand on a great concept, but simply when.

Grand Theft Auto V’s Heists DLC still isn’t out, but a popular YouTube user posted a mod video showing casinos with doors.

User DomisLive, who operates a YouTube channel that has leaked a number of updates before coming out, said the casino doesn’t usually have doors. He featured video footage from a modder who claims to have obtained official Rockstar source code that shows the doors

DomisLive said that the modder “was able to find the spawn points for the doors and was able to spawn in the exact doors for the casino,” meaning that new content is coming.

In May, source code was leaked for the casino, suggesting it could be involved in a Heist mission. And a few weeks ago, the minimum cash payout for a Heist mission is $100,000 and the maximum is $375,000 for four people.

DomisLive said, “Rockstar is building upon a casino with every update … gearing for casino DLC to be released in the future.”

However, it’s still not confirmed if the casino will be part of the Heists missions. But, with the popularity of movies like “Ocean’s Eleven” and its sequels, a casino heist could be a very real possibility.On Wednesday, five people–including a security guard–were arrested in connection with the armed robbery of the Ceasars Atlantic City casino last week, reported Reuters. The last official update about the Heists DLC came from Rockstar a few weeks ago when it stated: “We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated. We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can.”

On Monday, Rockstar said players have less than a week to get the Independence Day content that came out about a month ago.
